DALLAS, Texas, USA (January 12, 2009) – Lookout Software LLC., has recently released OfficeCalendar Version 5, an affordable software alternative to Microsoft Exchange Server that allows users to easily share their Outlook calendars and more with colleagues and coworkers.
Lookout Software is recording this release of OfficeCalendar Version 5 as their biggest upgrade release yet.
OfficeCalendar Version 5 includes many sought-after features that have been requested by current OfficeCalendar users and prospective users. Version 5’s biggest features include the ability to share Outlook email folders, access Outlook contacts and tasks online (along with calendars), and users can now share unlimited Outlook calendar and contact sub-folders (resource users) without incurring additional license fees. "OfficeCalendar Version 5 brings in an excellent set of features to our already comprehensive flagship product. We’re thrilled to release this new upgrade out to the public and give our customers yet another reason to get excited about OfficeCalendar all over again," said Kevin Taggart, President of Lookout Software. "Features like email folder sharing and enhanced Outlook web access gives OfficeCalendar the edge it needs to stay one step ahead of the competition."
Shared Outlook email folders adds to OfficeCalendar’s already-comprehensive sharing capabilities, which currently includes the ability to share Outlook calendar, contact and task folders. However instead of users sharing their email folders via a network, like sharing calendars, contacts and tasks, users can share their Outlook email folders using the built-in Send/Receive function in Outlook. Users control who shares their Outlook email folders as well as the level of read, edit and delete access for each of those users, ensuring complete security.
OfficeCalendar Version 5 also adds more flexibility to its thriving OfficeCalendar Online feature. In addition to viewing Outlook calendars online, users can now access their Outlook contacts and tasks. “Based on customer feedback, the ability to use OfficeCalendar Online to access all shared calendar and contact lists from remote locations, has by far eliminated their scheduling conflicts when out of office,” said Niya Brown, Customer Service Manager for Lookout Software. OfficeCalendar Online is available from anywhere in the world at any time with a web browser, enabling users who are often traveling or do not have access to their workstation the ability to have web access to their Outlook calendar, contact and task folders.
Unlimited Outlook calendar and contact resource folders is another spotlighted feature of OfficeCalendar Version 5. In previous versions, OfficeCalendar resource folders (conference rooms, company-wide contact lists, etc.) required a separate license. OfficeCalendar Version 5 allows organizations to create unlimited calendar and contact resource folders to share among users.
OfficeCalendar Version 5 is the latest upgrade to OfficeCalendar since OfficeCalendar Version 4.5, which introduced OfficeCalendar Online for calendar folders.
Each person wishing to share Outlook calendars, contacts, and/or tasks using OfficeCalendar must have a copy of Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007. However, OfficeCalendar can work with a mixture of these Outlook versions. OfficeCalendar does not work with Microsoft Outlook Express, a different product from Microsoft Outlook.
