DALLAS, Texas – Lookout Software, LLC., has released OfficeCalendar Version 3, an easy-to-use software alternative to Microsoft Exchange Server that allows Microsoft Outlook users to share Outlook calendars, contacts and tasks, create multiple group calendars (a new feature in OfficeCalendar Version 3), and much more.
According to industry sources, Microsoft Outlook leads the email client market worldwide, with over 250 million users and an approximate 60% market share. Of these users, only 33% use Microsoft Exchange Server as a platform for messaging. The rest of these users are mostly small to mid-size businesses looking for an alternative to Exchange Server to share Microsoft Outlook calendar, contact and task information among colleagues.
In addition to easily sharing Outlook calendars, contacts and tasks, OfficeCalendar users can also create multiple group calendars to simplify scheduling. These interactive, editable group calendars allow a user to view selected coworkers’ individual calendars together on one calendar on their own Outlook screen. Controlled and comprehensive sharing security also assigns users the rights to read, write/edit, and delete other Outlook appointments and contacts.
“OfficeCalendar has changed the way our office operates,” said Bill Shaw, Clearfield County District Attorney, who uses OfficeCalendar in his office. “I can sit at my desk all day and see the schedule for every attorney in my office and my staff can schedule every attorney for appointments or court appearances without fear of overlapping or missing appointments.”
OfficeCalendar Version 3 offers many new exciting features to enhance its functionality. In addition to creating editable group calendars, OfficeCalendar administrators can control these group calendars with advanced new security features such as “In Group” and “View Group.” OfficeCalendar Version 3 also provides easier and faster user administration with the “Check All / Uncheck All” security feature and the ability to create user groups. Also available are new features to provide a more scalable environment for larger organizations, like Microsoft SQL Server configuration and a Free/Busy Server.
OfficeCalendar provides a low-cost alternative to Exchange Server that is easy to install and maintain. “Your product is a perfect Exchange Server alternative…I am surprised that more people do not know about it,” said Clint Culic, an OfficeCalendar user.
OfficeCalendar also works directly with Outlook and does not require server-based OS platforms or additional hardware. Furthermore, the product’s simple design makes it easy to install and use without the help of an IT expert. “It was very simple and quick not only to install but to get all computers up and running with the program,” said Bethany Cottrell, Program Coordinator for the Child Advocacy Center of Southern Hillsborough County. “We downloaded the free trial and have found our life-saver.”
Each person wishing to share Outlook calendars, contacts, and/or tasks using OfficeCalendar must have a copy of Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP or 2003. However, OfficeCalendar can work with a mixture of these Outlook versions. OfficeCalendar does not work with Microsoft Outlook Express, a different product from Microsoft Outlook.
Lookout Software was founded in the summer of 2003 with the goal of providing practical and affordable software solutions that solve common business problems for small to mid-size businesses.
OfficeCalendar v1.0 was released by Lookout Software in May 2004, and since that time has evolved through several versions to the most recent, Version 3. Lookout Software staff and developers are continually striving to better OfficeCalendar and gladly embrace feedback from customers.
